The first 200 lines.

"I'm heading to the Big Gate for a bit.

The rest is in your hands."

That doesn't inspire confidence.

Well, just what I'd expect from Dad.

The Big Gate...

Gatepia is the heart of the world.

Long ago,

it was said to be a forsaken land filled with despair.

But, one day,

a goddess appeared from the heavens...

...and brought forth an enormous gate.

Soon, other smaller gates began to appear

across the lands.

People started rushing through the doors,

hoping to gather any treasure that was hidden inside.

It was "kirakuri,"

the miracle energy that powers our world.

And so, society flourished.

To this very day, a wide variety of businesses

and adventurer guilds continue to sprout up all over the city.

One day, my childhood friend Yutoria

asked me to meet up with her.

Odd. She said she wanted to talk to me

about something important, but I'm not sure what it could be.

Let's go buy you a dress.

Maybe it's a love confession!

Wait, don't be stupid. That's not it!

Yutoria's been my friend since we were kids!

Uh, whatever. I gotta go!

Minato!

Do you know how long you've kept me waiting?

Sorry.

I was pretty sure that I got here right on time, though.

Every good businessman shows up five minutes early!

If you're late to an important meeting,

it could tank your career!

True. So what was it you wanted to tell me?

'Kay, here goes.

It's about you, Minato.

The truth is...

Did I guess right?

I've... felt this way for a while now...

I knew it!

I think you would make an awesome leader!

And that's why I want you to become the president

of the Kibou Company!

Huh...?

What?!

President, It's Time for Battle!

Hey! Could you wait a second?

We need to go to the office, immediately!

I'll explain the rest when we get there.

Fine. But can you please let go?

No way. I'm not letting you escape.

What am I, a criminal she's taking into custody?

Just before his untimely departure,

your father left a single letter behind.

And without a president in place,

the company will surely go under.

Yeah, that occurred to me too, actually.

Uh, hey. What's with the formality?

If I'm to act as your secretary,

then I must be eloquent. I shan't mix work and pleasure!

My secretary, huh?

Here we are, sir!

It's 3 o'clock, which means that we're right on schedule!

The Kibou Company...

This takes me back!

Haven't been here since we were kids!

As you can see, the old president's desk

has been cleared off.

And none of his personal belongings

have been left behind.

He really did head for the Big Gate.

I have no way of knowing what his reasons were,

but regardless, our company is in danger

of going bankrupt!

That's why it's imperative that you work very hard

as our new president!

Wait! One thing at a time!

I haven't actually agreed to this yet, remember?

Last I heard, you were currently unemployed.

I mean, it's not like you're doing anything else

with your life.

Look. I'm recharging my batteries for now

until something else comes along, okay?

I'll get a real job eventually!

If you wait around for too long,

you'll run out of options and get taken advantage of

by some scammer.

Um, that's true. The job market's been pretty bad lately.

With all the unpaid wages and excess overtime.

There's been a mass outcry for labor reform.

That's why this is a perfect fit!

Of course, I'm not saying this place doesn't have its flaws.

Then again, nothing's ever black and white,

so why not settle for a nice gray?

Whoa, slow down.

Now! Moving on! Time to sign this document.

Once you do that, you'll officially become

our company president!

Is there any reason why it has to be me, though?

You could take the job instead.

No, I don't have what it takes to be in charge.

I'm actually better at supporting other people.

Oh, right. Where's the rest of the team?

Including myself, we currently employ four people.

It's hard to picture any of us as president though,

since we're so used to being in the thick of things

That makes sense.

But I don't even know what a president is supposed to do,

so I'm no help.

I took the liberty of getting this for you!

Uh, thanks.

What is it?

You don't know?

It's a learning kit from the Adventure Agency!

"The Dungeon Clearing Pictorial Tutorial!"

Huh. Heh.

You'd think a government entity would pick

more serious names for their stuff.

In other words, it's the Adventurer's bible!

And if you watch it, you'll learn everything

you need to know about clearing dungeons,

even if you're as dumb as a slaby!

Hello! How is everybody doing today?

This important instructional program was created

to teach basic workplace practices to presidents

of adventure companies of all shapes and sizes!

So let's sit tight and pay close attention!

In fact, we'd like you to sit on your feet

and watch at least three times!

Why does she care how I'm sitting?

No arguing, Mr. President.

You're new here, so you should follow instructions!

Once again, I haven't agreed to this yet.

First off, we need to explain dungeon exploration!

Presidents are supposed to get jobs from either customers

or the Adventurer Agency.

And then they must guide their employees on a journey,

which starts by entering a gate just like this!

As your workers progress through the dungeon,

it's your responsibility to choose their battle strategy

whenever they're confronted by maju!

It's a slaby.

I hate how soft and flabby they are.

Also, since these dungeons tend to be riddled

with traps, it's your duty to decide which is the best route!

Sorry, but I'm really bad with directions.

You'll get used to it, sir.

I believe in you!

And inside the dungeons is where you'll find kirakuri.

Along with other minerals and valuable items

that you can gather up and exchange for money to keep

your business going strong!

If you create a steady source of income,

then you'll be able to easily pay all your employees

and purchase useful equipment to support you

in any future adventures!

Now that we've covered dungeon exploration, we can move on

to staff approvals and paperwork!

Whoa, this is more complicated than I thought.

My head's spinning.

And with that, we'll conclude our presentation!

By understanding these basic practices

and treating your employees well,

your career as company president is certain to be

a fun and fulfilling endeavor!

What'd you think, Mr. President?

Um. You okay?

Uh. Yeah, I'm fine!

Wow, that was a really great presentation.

Oh, goodness! Did something happen?

Ah, I can't feel my legs.

I hate to say this, but if you want to get anything done

around here, then you're going to need to

shape up a little, sir.

Yeah, you're right.

Or I could just never sit like that again.

-- --Ah?

We're back!

Ugh, I'm so exhausted.

That was a little tougher than we were expecting.

Oh! These are the other three employees I mentioned.

They just got back from a mission.

Hi there! Welcome back, guys!

Thanks, we're happy to be back!

Oh! And this must be the boy you told us about.

He finally showed.

That's right!

This is our new representative for the Company.

Our own President Minato!

Huh? Wait just a second, Yutoria!

I haven't decided yet!

Now then! It's time to introduce the team!

Okay. Do you need your hearing checked or something?

This is Makoto, and he's our priest.

He's only 17, so he's the youngest here.

But he's a four-star adventurer!

Trust me, you can leave all your healing needs to him!
