The first 185 lines.

I climbed the mountain every day.

I decided to climb the mountain every day on New Year's Day.

And with the belief that mountain climbing could cure her disease,

for about a month and a half,

we climbed the nearby mountain every day.

I wasn't used to mountain climbing,

so whenever I faced an uphill, my lower stomach ached.

Unlike my body, my mind must've been afraid.

My wife's stomach was also unwell, but for a different reason.

When I reached the top,

I felt touched yet got seized with fear.

The anticipation about getting well...

and the fear of the unknown future...

was mixed in my heart.

When I came down the mountain with my wife,

I was just filled with joy.

As much as the sweat she shed and the pain she felt while climbing,

we felt like she has recovered from the disease.

But it's something we can't even imagine doing it.

(Episode 5, We All Need Some Sweet Consolation)

I make apple and carrot juice in the morning.

I wash apples thoroughly...

and grind them unpeeled because it's nutritious.

- Are you going to school? - Yes.

Do you want an apple?

You know I don't eat breakfast.

But Mom shouldn't eat sweet food, right?

That's not true. She can have this juice, though.

I heard cabbage juice and onion juice are good to have in the morning.

Then, I should make cabbage soup tomorrow morning.

Have a good day.

You've got a parcel.

Another reason that apples are good for health...

is that their GI, the glycemic index, is very low.

When you eat food with a high GI,

your blood sugar level reaches its peak very quickly.

And your pancreas gets anxious, so it oversecretes insulin.

Compared to their sweetness, strawberries, apples, and pears...

have a GI that's lower than that of tofu.

Although potatoes have higher calories than potatoes,

their GI is lower than that of potatoes.

It's something that's needless to say,

but you must never judge food with GI only.

There isn't only one answer in food.

It's another reason that I believe my easygoing personality is a blessing.

- What's that? - What?

An emergency bell.

Even when I'm outside, it gives me notifications on my phone.

I'm not so ill that I can't even make a phone call.

It's called an emergency bell because it's for an emergency.

It's not bad to have one, anyway.

Why don't you sleep with me here?

Why are you so surprised?

I'm just joking.

I don't think I can go to the hospital with you because of the lecture.

I'm sorry.

I'm just a cancer patient, not a kid.

- I can take a taxi. - Okay.

Is there anything you want to eat for dinner?

I'm going to stop by the supermarket on my way home.

Tangsuyuk.

I want to eat tangsuyuk with a sauce that has pineapples in it.

I kind of crave it.

You can't even finish this juice, and you want tangsuyuk?

I will finish it. I'm just drinking it slowly.

But if I make it, I'll end up throwing it away.

But you asked me about what I wanted to eat.

So I said what I wanted to eat.

What I meant was...

to choose something you could digest easily.

I didn't read your deep meaning. Sorry.

Please don't speak like that.

I'm trying my best, though.

I said sorry. Don't pick a fight.

Fine.

It's my bad. Sorry.

Then, make me pine nut porridge.

I apologized.

I mean it.

I wanted to eat nutty pine nut porridge too.

Do you like to cook?

Actually,

I'm an extremely lazy person.

My wish is...

to live my life getting room service at a hotel.

I just need to push a bell,

and I get whatever I want.

The luxurious hotel life.

Come to think of it, in order to cook,

you should go out to find good ingredients first.

Then, you should prepare the ingredients well.

And you should use proper cooking utensils, control heat,

and follow the recipe.

After eating, you should do the dishes...

and organize the ingredients left. And it's never easy.

I'm such a lazy person...

who wishes to lead a luxurious hotel life.

How could I ever like to cook?

- But I've read your blog, - Yes.

but it was all about cooking.

So that means you're doing what you don't really like, then?

Oh, well.

Cooking...

for someone else makes you feel really good, actually.

And posting on the blog is also nice.

And reading the comments my friends left...

also makes me quite happy as well.

Then, your life at a hotel won't come true.

Maybe, it won't.

That's just my wish.

Most wishes...

don't come true, as you all know.

There are two types of anticancer drugs.

The cell-cycle-specific drug works only for the cells in the specific stage.

On the other hand,

the cell-cycle-non-specific drug kills cancer cells...

regardless of their dividing stage.

These anticancer drugs...

interrupt the synthesis of DNA and RNA and mitosis...

or have a harmful effect on the DNA molecules.

That's how they kill the cancer cells.

But chemotherapy...

affects not only the cancer cells...

but also the normal cells that actively divide and multiply,

like mucous membranes in the gastrointestinal tract,

hair, marrow, and the cells in the reproductive system.

The student over there!

Yes?

Me?

I don't think I've seen you before.

You're not in our department, are you?

I've never seen a student who majors in photography...

sitting in on a class at a medical school.

I don't know what your intention is, but it's a waste of time.

My mom is sick.

It must be cancer.

Then, you should trust her doctor and help her get treated well.

But attending a class here won't...

So whatever I do...

won't help her recover from cancer, you mean?

Well, that's not something I can answer.

But nobody gives me an answer.

Cancer isn't like a cold that you can get well by eating well...

and getting rest.

We should try everything we can.

What if my mom really...

Are Asian lizard's tails...

really effective?

I heard that if it's used with agrimony,

it could reduce late-stage cancer cells by 80 to 90 percent.

Have you also heard of it?

I know it's not easy for you.

- Sorry? - When you were getting chemo,

I was getting the same next to you.

You had your eyes closed, so I thought you were sleeping.

So I couldn't talk to you.

I see.

How many times have you gotten the chemo?

I think it was my third.

So you've just started.

It was my seventh.

Did you get surgery?

Not yet.

It feels unbearable at first,

but as time goes by, it somehow gets bearable.

It'll be best if you don't have to get surgery.

Then, I'll see you again.

All right.

I hope to see you again.

I wish you the best.

Sir, can I change my destination?

Jae Ho?

Pour the right amount of water and soak the rice in water...

for over an hour and steam it.

Including the water, I always have to prepare everything in advance.

A cup of germinated brown rice...

and a cup of mixed red beans, kidney beans, yellow beans,

and black beans.

And I'll put some Job's tears too.

If you use germinated brown rice, the texture of the rice gets much softer.

I soaked Phellinus linteus in water for 12 hours and used it to cook rice.

You can use...

either the chaga mushroom or Lacquered bracket-soaked water instead.

After you wash the rice, but before you close the lid,

if you add linseed and turmeric powder, it becomes very healthy.
