The first 200 lines.
We just lost a fish.
I think Merch put his curse on us.
Oh, man, I hate this place.
For the past two seasons fishing down south...
(bleep) man, we're losing it!
We're losing it!
Northern fisherman Dave Marciano's been haunted
by the curse of the Outer Banks.
Oh!
The Hard Merch has got a curse down this place.
We haven't caught any fish yet.
Now with a new boat and a new crew...
Attaboy, lady!
Dave is hoping to break his cold streak.
Let the games begin.
Reverse the curse.
But as a herd of big fish lead some captains to take even bigger risks...
No way.
A million dollar's worth of tuna.
Take a shot, roll the dice.
Hopefully it pays off.
The northerner's bad luck strikes another boat.
Whoa.
He's gone.
As Dave and his crew fight to break the curse...
-We're on! -Ain't got him yet!
-Back down on him! We're running out of line!
Before the curse breaks them.
God, doggit!
This is...
-Yeah. -Yahoo!
-Let her fly, Cap! -Hold on, hold on!
Wicked Tuna Outer Banks.
Bloody decks equals paychecks.
As the fishing heats up northern boat Pinwheel has
charged to the front of the pack.
Meanwhile, southerner Foolish Pleasures and northern vessel Falcon are both
still looking for their first fish of the season.
Well, five more minutes, Joe, we're gonna wrap it up here.
-Okay. -Doesn't look like we'll be breaking our curse today.
So far, this bluefin season's pretty anticlimactic.
-"Anticlimactic." We've had two seasons down here in the Outer Banks that
we didn't catch any fish at all.
There's some sort of Outer Banks curse on us.
-We haven't got one yet this year.
We have to start with one fish, kind of break that curse, break that goose egg.
-It's always the hardest to get that first fish.
-The big challenge this season is we're allowed one bluefin per trip.
Come on, baby!
-What that means is you go out and don't catch a bluefin, you can't go out and catch two
fish the next trip.
So, you're under the gun here to produce every single time off the dock.
There's a big mark, right down deep.
There's a couple of 'em.
Big marks, Joe! Big marks.
-Big mark, big mark! We're marking!
Yeah, we just got a solid mark across the screen here.
Oh, no, (bleep), how deep?
Down at 60.
Send some our way, man. We can't buy a bite.
We're just going around, hoping something happens.
Things will definitely go your way soon enough.
It always does, brother.
Yeah, well, maybe a little bad luck.
-I just want this breaker to sing to me.
Oh, oh, we got one coming up! Yeah, oh, (bleep).
That's the real deal.
-Maybe today is our lucky day, we're gonna land this one, it's gonna be a bluefin.
Just nice and easy.
Hope this is what we want, guys.
There's definitely a fish here.
Yeah. Hell, yeah.
Get that first bluefin out of our way.
Okay, bump it ahead a little bit, Gel.
Both?
Yeah, both.
-Can you see him? -Oh, yeah, there he is.
Easy, easy, easy! Nice and easy.
Yup.
Ugh, Yellowfin, (bleep).
Not what we were looking for.
Let's haul him in and head for the barn.
Put 'em both in gear, Gel. We don't need this crap.
Stupid yellowfin.
Yeah, I was jigging it, I was like, "Wait, I'm missing a squid."
Hold up. Is that the engine?
That's not good.
We're still looking for our first fish, and now our engines on the fritz.
It's the last thing we need.
When we get back to the dock, we're gonna have to get this fixed before I can fish again.
Oh, man. I hate this place.
The Outer Banks curse strikes again.
We got to have one today, buddy.
Today's the day.
Today is the day.
Set it out.
-Setting 'em out. Let's do it.
Let's get one!
This year, we only got 39 metric tons of quota and we can only catch one fish a day.
You can't afford to have many days on the water where you don't produce.
I got three kids.
Got to catch fish.
The small quota sucks.
And on top of that, we got all these northern boats down here trying
to get a little piece of it.
It's sort of insult to injury.
-Come on. We need to catch a fish.
I'm gonna fix this reel and then we're gonna run back up drift again.
If these southern guys wanna come up North and fish with us,
they're more than welcome to.
It's just they know they'll get smoked.
This rod caught a lot of fish for me.
Up in Gloucester, we were the top boat.
And right now, we're the top boat down here.
Our closest competitor is Little Shell, and they're already more than a grand
behind us in the earnings.
The way we're fishing, I'm not worried about any of these southern boats.
Get this thing started.
Tyler loves to talk a big game, but this our home turf.
We were the top boat three years in a row.
Last year, we came up a little bit short, but this season,
we're not gonna let anyone show us up.
Feels like tuna fishing.
Just trying to get set up here and we'll see how it goes.
Last year, we surprised everybody.
Here we go.
There's no doubt in my mind we can win again.
We just have to work and we have to have some good luck.
We're going tuna fishing, baby.
All right, guys.
Let's get 'em out.
Still real early in the season, we haven't caught a fish yet.
We have to catch a fish.
I just think that our misfortune is just dumb luck.
You know, I just think its bad luck.
When other guys are catching around you and you're not,
it's like you've got a curse over you.
We're gonna do everything in our power to break that curse.
-Being outsmarted by a pea-brained fish does not do much for one's manhood.
Come on, give us a good one.
What about TJ and them boys?
TJ and Falcon.
Where's the rest of the crowd?
I ain't seen TJ, I don't know.
TJ's got the biggest boat in the fleet, he's not even out here fishing because
he can't hang.
All right, boys, let's set out the lines.
We steamed down further south.
We heard a local charter boat got covered up by big bluefins,
so it could be the answer, man.
You know, we could find that mark down here.
We could get bit, next thing you know, we're headed for the barn.
Yeah (inaudible) today, we're fishing 30 miles away from the rest of the fleet.
We're gonna show everyone that we could easily find fish on our own.
-We came in last place last season down here.
So right now, this is all about redeeming ourselves.
You're gonna have to be out there in days you don't want to be out there and you're
gonna have to be more aggressive.
-Take a shot, roll the dice, see if we could hook something down here.
Hopefully it pays off.
NICK (over radio): How about you, Dale?
No, I haven't heard any TJ or Marciano.
We would love to land a fish before Marciano.
We are the last two boats to not catch a fish and the last thing that I wanna do is to
see all the northern boats getting a fish down here before us.
Marciano has motor problems.
-Not good. -Yeah. We noticed a little smoke.
We've got to stop and figure out what's causing the smoke.
-She's not being very friendly.
-And with how short this season is, it hurts to miss one day of fishing down here.
-You kind of crunched it pretty good.
The problem with the engine is a bad fuel injector.
Luckily, I've got a lead on a replacement part.
Howdy, neighbor.
What's going on, Britton?
Dave.
Turns out that Britton on the Doghouse managed to track one down.
That's a huge help.
If this works.
Instead of the best dad ever, you're gonna have to make me a mug that says,
best Dock Mate ever.
Hey, that's right, that's right, that's right.
Hell, you're a lifesaver.
-This morning when I saw Dave tied up to the dock, I wanted to do what I could to
get him back out fishing.
Good to see you.
Good to see you too.
We had a spare injector at the house, so I didn't think anything about offering a
little bit of southern hospitality.
It's the right one?
It's the right one.
-The right one. -Hell, yeah.
There might be some other southern boats that would have maybe a little bit
of rash about us going to get Dave fishing.
That's a lifesaver, Britton.
But I'm gonna go by what the bible says,
"Love your neighbor like you love yourself."
He was my neighbor. He was tied up next to me.
Keep your fingers crossed.
Say a little prayer.
