The High Tatras in the north of Slovakia

are the highest mountains in the Carpathian mountain range.

The long main mountain ridge

covers an area of 26 square kilometres.

The High Tatras have 35 valleys,

120 mountain lakes,

and more than 300 peaks.

The whole area forms the biggest nature reserve in Czechoslovakia -

Tatra National Park.
