The first 200 lines.

Previously on King...

Jim Lowell and Danny Slass are suspended.

- What are you gonna do? - Go home fight with my husband.

Nolan's looking into our fink fund. She thinks we're skimming.

You got money issues, you got communication issues,

you got life issues!

I called 911.

Scout, no, run! Get out of here!

Daddy!

Hmm, you didn't eat much. You, uh...

You ok?

I think I have the flu or the plague.

I just... I should probably have an early night.

- So where are we at? - I don't know.

Do you want me to come home?

Do you want to come home?

I don't know. Maybe, maybe we need a bit more...

Time. Yeah, yeah, yeah...

We need a little more time. Sure.

We didn't talk about your thing.

Yeah, um, right.

Right, yeah, um.

I didn't take that money, Jess, ok?

I need you to know that.

We, I mean, we all took little bits here and there

but we always put it back, ok? It's just how...

I really feel sick. Um...

I think I need to talk to a lawyer.

A lawyer?

About your case, Danny.

We need some advice other than union counsel.

Just make sure we've looked at all your options.

Actually, you know what? Can you sit down

for one second please, so I can talk to you?

Uh, I've been a little strapped lately.

- For cash. - How much?

I've been asking the guys at work. They've been helping out

here and there, but that well's kinda run dry.

So, uh, I took an application for a line of credit against the house.

- What?! - Half the house is mine, Jess, alright.

I'd appreciate it if you'd just sign it, ok?

I'll give you some cash for day to day.

I'm not signing that.

Can't we just take a sanity day?

No, we can't take a sanity day because when the school calls

and they ask where you are, I can't say you took a sanity day.

- Why not? - They'll think we're crazy, ok?

Then tell them I'm taking care of you. I can help clean up.

- Can you please help me out? - Yeah, I got it.

- Dad... - No, you know what, honey?

If we don't go on with our lives the bad guys win, alright?

I'm not going to let that happen, ok?

Thanks, honey.

Ok. Got it.

- Mr. Trevor Winter? - Oh! Hey, did you get the guy?

Come on in, I've just got to get the kids...

We have a court order from child protection services.

What are you talking about?

Hey, hey, don't touch my kids!

Sir, due to recent events, we're taking your children to child services.

You can't touch my kids!

- Sir! - You can't take my kids!

What's going on? Daddy!

Scout! Connor!

- Dad! - Calm down.

Scout! Connor!

Hey!

Hmm, nothing like a man in uniform. All the guys

at my firm are either fat and bald or hot and gay.

Thanks for coming on such short notice.

So this is your office?

Did you arrange it this way? Bad Feng Shui.

Can we just talk about Danny?

Someone could shoot you through that window...

- Lisa? - Your husband's best defense?

- Yes, please. - Stupidity.

These are stupid cops doing stupid things

and their best defense is their own stupidity.

Danny's facing a discreditable conduct charge,

so he needs to get counseling through the employee assistance program

for his gambling asap.

When they do an investigation for the misappropriation

of funds, and they will, it'll mitigate any disciplinary action.

- My professional opinion. - He's never gonna agree.

- That will make him look guilty. - He is guilty.

Not guilty guilty. He skimmed a few hundred off the top,

- but he put it back. - It's his word against his partner's.

Lowell's in for murder. Danny looks pretty good next to him.

Better to admit to being a sad loser gambler and ask for help.

Besides, are you sure your lovely blonde adonis

is telling you the whole truth?

Detective King, a minute.

Yes. Hi. Sure.

Chief Graci, this is Lisa McGregor.

I'm Jess' sister. She wouldn't say that.

We could stand here all day, and she wouldn't tell you that.

Pleasure to meet you. I can have you charged

for assault, handshake like that.

Tough crowd.

Sorry. I can't fake a laugh.

It always sounds like I'm in a grade school musical.

You can't fool anyone, so why bother.

But it is nice to meet you, too.

The no filter thing runs in the family.

- Maybe a little. - Excuse me.

- Of course. - Trevor Winter,

an anti-racist activist who's caught the attention

of some skinheads, he's been attacked 3 times.

No arrests. Child protection stepped in this morning,

- removed the children. - He gets attacked

- and loses the kids? - The press just picked it up.

They say that Winter lost his family

because we couldn't make an arrest.

Bad optics.

Optics. You know, chief, before I met you

I like, I never heard that word.

Make the arrest! Get the family back together.

Winter's in holding downstairs.

What's he doing down there?

Obstruction!

Trevor Winter went to the child protection worker.

Setting a fine example for the kids.

Someone goes after my family,

I'd have something to say about it too.

Ok, Collier, what are we looking at?

Well, we don't actually have 3 incidents, we've got 6.

In pairs. Sort of a tit for tat kind of thing.

Tit for tat, I love that about the criminal code.

Winter kicked things off by papering his neighbourhood

with anti-racist flyers that attacked the northern front.

They're a Neo-Nazi skinhead group that operates

- in his neighbourhood. - They're new?

They have their roots in the west.

Been expanding out here for the last few years.

So, they appear to have responded to the flyers

by spray-painting death threats on Winter's house.

Winter retaliates by publishing pictures online

of key members of the northern front

with names and addresses.

Northern front responded by torching Winter's car.

- So far, no witnesses, no arrests.

Two days ago, Winter drops a bomb.

Publishes this picture of Uber-industrialist Marcus Holmes

shaking hands with skinhead number 1.

- Is that the frozen yogurt guy? - No he's the racehorse and mining guy.

Looks like the yogurt guy. That guy's a white supremacist?

He might just be a friendly industrialist.

So anyway, last night, skinhead in a mask breaks

into Winter's house, trashes the place, breaking his arm

with a baseball bat while his kids were upstairs.

Scout Winter,

thirteen, calls 911.

Basically, it's jerks versus jerk.

Except that one jerk just lost his family.

At what point did the law change, making victims

of violent crimes into unfit parents, huh?!

Trevor, can I get you a glass of water?

I was beaten with a baseball bat last night, ok?

How the hell can you justify...

And, and you arrest me?!

Ok, let's call this a cooling down period.

You say you know who did this?

I put their pictures online.

- What more do you people need? - Anyone ever told you,

you get more with sugar than vinegar?

I did nothing wrong!

You assaulted a child protection worker.

Where are they?

Scout and Connor, I want to see 'em.

They're being looked af...

The kids are being looked after. They're safe, ok?

Trevor, can you tell me why you would

continue to antagonize these skinheads after

they've not only damaged your property

but made death threats?

They're terrorists!

Right? Disciplined units in a cell-like organization...

- I'll be right back. - ...typical, they're fascists!

Winter's under a table

for most of the attack. All he saw were the boots:

Candy apple brights.

- You ok? - There's a surplus store

downtown that caters to skinheads.

Get MK and Collier to follow up on the boots.

And release Winter.

You think that's a good idea?

He's been through enough, he doesn't need the night in jail.

- You ok? - Uh, when's

the daughter coming in?

Scout? CPS is shuttling her over here now.

Well, you're the teen whisperer,

- take the interview. - Sure.

When can I see my dad?

He's a vegan. You need to make sure he eats.

He forgets sometimes.

How about you, you hungry?

Chocolate chip and marshmallow.

My dad says they make marshmallows of horse hooves.

It's good to know. So, Scout,

why don't you tell me what happened.
