There was once a great war.
The vaunted warriors of the age fought for their ambitions and convictions,
but none of them emerged the victor,
and 21 swords bearing the world's fate were scattered across the Far East.
This is a tale that begins with a man obtaining one of those swords.
Blade
Tsurugi
Kizami
Monme
Touki
Princess Saya
I'm a traveler!
Spare me some water!
Hey!
Huh? Is nobody here?
Hmm? A sword?
What the heck?
It's glowing!
Hey! And who the hell are you?
You first.
I'm the great Tsurugi, one of the blademasters!
Forget that League Blade and run, or fight me. The choice is yours.
This sword...
belongs to me now.
You fool!
Regret your choice in hell!
What did you mean, "League Blade"?
Are you just an ignorant fool?
Fine. I'll tell you before you die.
League Blades are unlike any other sword.
They bestow a myriad of powers upon their wielder.
And whoever is deemed strongest by all of the League Blades
will seize the country.
Nation
Conqueror
Conqueror
They'll gain the power to conquer the nation!
Power enough to steal all of Japan? I like the sound of that.
I've always wanted to see what it's like to be king!
I'll become the strongest
and rule over this country!
Like hell you will!
Ow...
Eek, don't!
I ain't fixin' to die just yet!
Will you admit I'm stronger, then?
Fine, I admit it! You're stronger than me!
So, Shinjuku's up ahead?
Yeah. Its dungeon is a battleground of people vying for supremacy.
And if you beat Kizami, the guy who's a cut above the rest,
Shinjuku is as good as yours.
Huh...
Didn't you wanna take over the country, too?
It is what it is. In a battle between blademasters,
the loser has to either forfeit their life or serve the winner.
Besides,
if you make me minister once you become king, I'll be happy with that.
I, Tsurugi, will carve open a path to the throne for you!
Shin
juku
It's over!
Yeah, for you!
Yay! Way to go, Blade!
Kizami!
Damn, you guys are tough.
I'd never be king if I slipped up here now, would I?
Say...
Take us with you, too.
Once you're king,
make me a general, okay?
We didn't hole up underground by choice.
The oni of Shibuya drove us down there.
They're nothing like your usual oni.
Sounds like we have our next goal.
Next up,
we wipe the oni from Shibuya.
Blade...
Act I Fin
Act I Fin
To be Continued in Act II
To be Continued in Act II
All of that was Act I.
Act II features the Shinjuku Cluster, unified under Blade,
going up against the Shibuya Cluster, a band of oni.
And it starts with a clash between these two.
You sold us out?!
I've been an oni from Princess Saya's Shibuya all along.
Do we really have to fight?
My parents forced this sword on me, and I got dragged into this mess.
Sakuya Kamoshida.
He's a popular actor and a hot commodity in the 2.5D community.
He's usually a sleazy womanizer.
But he's a good performer.
I don't want to fight.
Please run away.
That way, we won't have to fight.
Please run away right now. Go away.
Please hurry... Hurry!
He's playing a character who's his polar opposite,
but he's got the source material down pat.
Get lost!
Plenty of acting chops, too.
Damn it.
Up the SFX volume a bit.
Right.
Please confirm.
All good.
Let's go over the blocking.
Right.
You really helped me out by sending Kamoshida-kun.
Now that's a good actor.
Glad to hear you took a liking to him.
Given you enlisted Lalalai,
I figured you wanted to put on a play that didn't conform to the usual 2.5D rules?
That's part of the vision, of course.
I want first-timers to become not only fans of 2.5D plays
but fans of theater in general.
So we'll uphold the rules which help that and break down the rules which don't.
Sounds good, right?
I brought in Lalalai for the theater side of things,
and Kamoshida-kun is repping the 2.5D side proudly, too.
His faithfulness stands out even in a 2.5D community full of source conformists.
He's an encyclopedia in how to bring 2D characters to life.
He's the best how-to example we could hope for.
The Lalalai members instantly figured out that they could learn a lot from him
and soaked up the way of 2.5D like sponges.
That's great to hear. I'm glad I introduced him.
Arima-kun and Aqua-kun have loads of skill and I trust your casting choices,
Kizami
but that guy was the one pick who didn't make sense to me.
He's not that famous,
and he doesn't have the acting chops to take the stage with all these veterans.
He'll barely make passing grade if he's lucky.
When I saw his performance in Sweet Today, I wanted no part of him,
but you basically forced him into the cast, remember?
Why was that? Do you sense some kind of potential in him?
Not really, no. It's just a personal desire.
A personal desire?
That's how the world works, right?
If you see a spot open, you try to squeeze a pet project in.
Kizami
He's got good looks and a good voice.
His acting can come along in time.
Please don't use my show as a training ground.
Nah, I only pushed that hard for him because I figured he'd win you over.
I know you like his type.
Kids who work their butts off, I mean.
You're not taking me down, damn you!
See?
You sure?
I can't believe some punk from Shinjuku's taking me this lightly.
Freezing
Fates
Ugh, my body!
What did you do to me?!
This is my League Blade...
Freezing Fates's power.
He's not who he was on Sweet Today.
He's giving acting his absolute all.
It's kids like him who leave a mark.
Whether casting him was a mistake or not...
is a call she'll make for us.
We have someone here who's watching him with the most critical eyes in the world.
Right after I got into middle school,
a third-year wasted no time in having her way with me.
Senpai
I'm almost there
Ring the bell
Got it
I had lots of fun today <3 Come over again sometime
That was when I realized I was popular.
People gravitated to me without me even trying,
and any girl I crushed on would ask me out herself.
I'd get laughs by messing with the oddballs,
and I thought that made me funny.
I just went through the motions,
