Walt Disney Animation Studios: Short Circuit Experimental Films

Hi, my name is Zach Parrish and I'm the director of Puddles.

Puddles was inspired by my nephew, Noah, and his unending imagination.

When I was writing the story,

I lived around the corner from an elementary school,

so I would see kids walking out of this elementary school

and they would be on their phones

And so, I liked that juxtaposition of Noah who is so attached to his world.

This one, give me this one.

And Skylar, who kind of needs a bit of a bump on the head.

I was fortunate enough to have an effects artist

come to me and ask if he could help

try to make stylized three-dimensional effects.

And since Puddles is the name of the film,

it's good that we spent the time to really make the puddles,

for our crowning achievement.

Come on, Skylar.

Mmm-hmm. I'm coming.

You have to jump over the puddles. They're lava.

Oh, no! I'm not gonna make it.
