English subtitle preview

The first 165 lines.

Daly: Last week, "The Voice" returned for our greatest season yet...

Whoo-hoo!

Daly: ...and our veteran coaches wasted no time

- building their teams... - Whoo!

Wow! ...with some of the best voices

they have ever heard. Yeah!

I pick Alicia!

Daly: Alicia was off to a strong start with five artists.

Alicia: At this point, I'm looking for the singer-songwriter vibe.

I think I'm missing some of that.

Unh!

Daly: Adam picked up four artists.

Adam: It doesn't matter what the genre is.

I'm looking for whatever inspires me.

- Come here! - I'm so excited.

Daly: Blake landed five artists.

Blake: I'm in a position now

where I really need to start looking for singers

that are outside of the country genre.

- Yeah! - And Gwen scored four artists.

Gwen: Now I'm looking for that young girl that I can connect to

and share what I've done with.

Ericka: I'm a mom with one last shot.

If I were to make it on a team today,

I think it would show my kids to dream big.

Troy: My dad was a musical inspiration,

and if I do get a chair turned around,

I think he would be proud.

Gaby: Even though I've had all of these detours all my life,

music is my calling.

- Amazing. - Wow.

You're a killer. I'm feeling you.

- I'm loving it. - Wow.

I really feel that we should be working together this season.

I wanted to go ahead and start meeting the family now.

And Blake Shelton sinks to new lows. Zip.

Don't you wish, since he's dressed like a mime,

he would actually sound like a mime?

Daly: And for one coach...

You can win this thing, and it would be a shame

to see somebody screw that up for you like Adam.

...the season hangs in the balance.

You are the number-one priority on Team Adam if you come to me.

- What? - Come on.

This is the whole season.

Daly: It all starts right now!

My name's Micah Tryba.

I'm 24 years old, and I'm from Wheaton, Illinois.

For the past four years,

I've been studying to become a veterinarian,

but music's been a part of my life ever since I can remember.

Throughout school, I performed community musical theater,

variety shows in coffee shops around town.

I graduated high school,

planning to go to school for music education.

But financially, my plans weren't going to happen,

so I spent some time at community college.

On top of all of that,

my golden retriever, Lucy, became sick with spinal cancer.

She was the love of my life.

We had a great doctor that was helping us,

so I really wanted to be that for somebody else someday.

I studied really hard, I saved money, and in 2012,

I went to the University of Illinois

as an animal science major.

I volunteer at our school's Wildlife Medical Clinic.

That gives me an amazing opportunity

to do some hands-on medicine with animals

that I would not have otherwise interacted with,

and that in itself is so incredibly rewarding.

But I couldn't just leave music to the side.

Singing in an a cappella group,

I feel so much more confident as a performer and as a soloist.

And this experience, I think,

really prepared me for "The Voice."

I chose to put aside veterinary school to really pursue music.

I come from an a cappella background,

so I don't deal with the band and the instrumentation.

So, I think that working with these coaches

would really help me to transition that

into something that's successful in contemporary music today.

A lot is riding on this 90 seconds.

It is setting a course for the rest of my life.

That's it, Micah. Just do it, baby.

You don't want to.

Oh, my God!

- Yeah! - Whoo!

- - Oh, my God!

Whoo!

I'm every woman!

Hi!

What's your name?

My name's Micah Tryba, and I'm from Wheaton, Illinois,

and I'm 24 years old.

Your voice is so powerful.

I think for me, there were a couple pocket issues

that can easily be fixed by either one of these formidable,

- awesome coaches. - That's true.

This isn't an easy song 'cause you have the slow beginning,

- and then it kind of picks up. - Yeah.

I totally respect the work that you had to put in to do that,

and I think that you have a beautiful, gorgeous voice,

so congratulations.

Thank you.

Is it "Mee-cah" or "My-cah"?

- It's "My-cah." - Okay.

She said "My-cah," but you just weren't listening.

Now that we've found Waldo, you can... you can...

Zip.

Micah, did you do some vocal training?

Because some of the notes that you choose to sing

are, like, I can't even think of those notes, much less sing 'em.

Thank you. No, I did a cappella in... in college.

- Which school? - The University of Illinois.

- Oh, okay. - Champaign-Urbana.

I love champagne.

He likes anything with alcohol in it.

What you did just then, it blew me away.

Hopefully if you choose me, we'll get you in the finale,

because I truly think you could be standing

in the winner's circle.

Thank you so much.

Okay, Micah, obviously, Blake Shelton is super hot,

and I know it would be really fun to work with him. Yeah.

Just don't be tempted by the dimples. You're right. Okay.

But I'm gonna tell you something. I think...

Yeah, it's hard, right? I know. Me, too.

Alicia, will you talk about how good-looking I am... Alicia: No.

...for just a second?

Your intuition, your sensitivity,

and your control of your voice,

it was, like, so tender and sweet.

- As a female... - Oh, boy. Oh, my God.

There's things that we can work on together

to get your personality through.

It's about who you are and sharing your story,

so I'd love to work with you.

Thank you so much, Gwen.

Micah. She did a really good job, Blake.

- I know she did. I agree. - She did. She killed it.

She killed it.

Micah, remember how good a job she did.

Okay.

I can't say that I know what it's like to be a girl,

and Gwen can't say that she knows what it's like

to win this show.

- Wow. - Yes!

How long that one take you to write?

Why is the Hamburglar even talking right now?

The Hamburglar did not wear super-chic, badass sweaters.

You look like a bar code.

The truth is, I think we all know who you should go with.

- Micah! - Yes?

Who are you going to pick for your coach?

Oh, my God. Um...

Come on, Micah!

Both of you are so incredible.

I'm so thankful to be standing here right now

to even have this decision.

And everything you said totally resonated with me.

Oh!

I think I'm going to go out on a limb

and, like, go with my gut at the beginning of this.

I-I pick Blake.

Wow.
