of the builder.

That is why I'm in this forge.

Eight robots.

As soon as you reach the point where people are booing you,

that's when you know you've made it.

Only four will survive.

of the most epic robot tournament

of all time.

Welcome to

BattleBots.

Tonight it's the quarterfinals

of the most epic robot tournament

on Earth.

The eight best bots in the competition will all

square off tonight for a chance to make it

to the semi-finals.

And don't forget what they're playing for.

The giant nut.

What makes this competition so tough

is the ability to overcome an incredible

amount of damage.

In sports there are injuries, but these battles

take it to a whole other level.

Wheels ripped off, weapons shredded, bodies smashed

over and over again.

Robots that were painstakingly

pieced together for years have to be

replaced virtually overnight.

Now we'll see who can recover and move

on. Here to look into their

magic eight ball, the always charming

Chris Rose, and a man that absolutely

owns the octagon, MMA star

Kenny Florian.

Alright, so Molly, the field has been narrowed to eight elite

robots all hoping to lay waste to their

opponents, and they're going to get a chance to do that

tonight. Now the winners automatically

move on to the semi-finals. The losers,

see ya. Hit the road.

Right now let's check out the bracket. And

it's really been a Cinderella run

for a pair of wild cards that came out of the losers

bracket. You've got the 11 seed overhaul,

the 9 seed witch doctor.

You also notice all four top seeds are

still alive, including Tombstone and

Ice Wave, who remain on a collision

course for the championship.

Alright, so we're on to the quarterfinals. We can't wait, Molly.

Alright guys, let's take a look at our first

quarterfinal matchup.

It's the number four seed Bronco

taking on the number five seed

Stinger. Stinger's builder

Matt Maxson has proven himself as

the spinner killer, but how will he

fare against Bronco? Let's take a

look at how these bots prepared for their quarterfinal

match.

After tossing

around Captain Shredderator like a

frisbee in the qualifying round,

Oh!

This is hard to watch.

Stinger powered its way into the quarterfinals by

brutalizing Warhead in the round of

16. Stinger showing

no mercy here, but triumphing

over a legend didn't come easily.

Stinger with a bump

right wheel. We won it,

but we also took a lot of

damage. Go ahead and start taking the

tire apart. It's like a NASCAR

pit crew. The quicker you get fixed,

the more chance you have of moving on.

Matt, you're going to be facing Bronco next.

Bronco? Bronco.

Going up against Bronco, what

scares me a little bit is the amount

of energy their flipper has.

They can actually twist the frame of your

robot. Stinger's opponent

Bronco has been nothing short of a

monster in the competition thus far.

Bronco just throws

Witch Doctor up on the rails.

Oh!

A big flip right into the screws.

It was a pretty smooth fight. We got a

shot, put them into the screws, caught all

their dragon wings and everything,

so it was over quick.

We really didn't take much damage,

and we're pretty much ready to go. Make sure

everything is locked down because it's going to be

a lot of banging around in the arena.

What we know about Stinger is that his machine

is super rugged.

Probably want to put on a new front

attachment to get underneath him. The strategy

is flip him, flip him, flip him.

If he's in the air, he can't push

us around, so the more air time

he gets, the happier we are.

Bronco's pneumatic flipper can deadlift

1,500 pounds, but

will it be strong enough to take down

Stinger? You guys, what do you think of this

matchup? Let's take a look

at the tail of the tape, and you'll notice it's

very even, except for

the weaponry, Kenny. Yeah, well Bronco

again, we talk about that pneumatic

flipper. That thing is very

powerful, and as for Stinger,

remember, he's a very modular bot.

Maybe he'll go with that fork attachment

for this match. We're hearing about a flame

thrower being a possibility, but in terms

of strategy, I really think

that he's got to find a way to get underneath

Bronco. I also think

he just has to be quicker, he has to get him

on that side. One thing is for sure,

bots will be flying.

Yes. Alright, now let's send it out

to the battle bots.

Ladies and gentlemen,

it's robot

fighting time!

There they are, it's Stinger with the cloth

draped over it. He's obviously

covering some new modifications, Kenny.

We'll see what he has in store for

Bronco.

Bronco with a pair of knockouts

to get to the quarterfinals,

oh so impressive in that pneumatic

flipper. Absolutely, you know, he may not

be as flashy as a

tombstone or ice wave, but

this is a very

dominant bot right here.

In the red square,

it flies like a

butterfly, stings

like a bee. Is it the

greatest of all time? We'll

see! Say hello

to

And Kenny, there it is!

That fork attachment we were

anticipating, and I actually do see an outlet

for a flamethrower as well. Looks

like he's pulled out all the stocks for this one.

And the

blue square!

To bring this bot down,

you'll need a bigger posse

than Justin Bieber.

Calling to Calvary, here

comes

Bronco!

Kenny, that pneumatic flipper on Bronco

has one purpose, to toss

opposing bots around the arena.

I think they both want to try to get

each other either up against the screws

or up and caught up on the ribs.

This is going to be a great quarterfinal

matchup. They have combined so far for

four fights, three of which have

resulted in a knockout.
