Tonight, tensions are rising as the elimination round of 32 continues.
We're just there to destroy one another.
There's no room for mercy in the Battle Box.
To take on the bad boys of Battle Box, a
legendary team gambles on an untested weapon.
We've got a seriously upgraded spinner now. It is scary.
That could spiral out of control.
Oh, no, no, no! There it goes! We're having an inside!
Then, Tombstone!
After losing in the finals last season, Tombstone is back.
And he'll do anything not to fall short again.
I'm here to win the tournament. I'm not here to play around.
Plus, against the most destructive bot in the competition...
We're gonna tear him apart.
...a Battle Box rookie tries a desperate strategy.
We're gonna spin up the full speed, and we're just gonna go straight in.
It's all coming up tonight on Battle Box.
Welcome to Battle Box, the most exhilarating and
explosive robot fighting tournament on Earth.
Tonight, we continue the single elimination fights in the round of 32.
Each of the remaining builders hopes they will have the
willpower and the firepower to win five more battles...
...and in the end, take home the 2016 Giant Knife.
Here to break down tonight's bouts, my battle bros.
One's an illustrious sportscaster.
The others, a notorious UFC fighter, Chris Rose and Kenny Florian.
Hey, guys.
Hey, Sam. Battle bros. I like that.
I like that.
So, guys, the round of 32, it's off to an amazing start.
We've already seen some great fights, right?
Yeah, we absolutely have.
You know, the bot builders really have stepped up their game from last season.
Styles make fights, so it's all about the setup of
their bots and how they execute their strategies.
Of course, there's plenty more excitement on the way with
tonight's matchups, so let's take a look at the bracket.
Last week, we saw four teams advance to the round of 16.
Yeti, Minotaur, Bronco, and the upset of the tournament so far, Red Devil.
Tonight, eight more teams look to survive and
advance on their quest for the Giant Knife.
We'll see action in three of our quadrants tonight,
but let's start with the most intriguing one thus far.
That's quad three, where we will see the number 27 seed,
Poison Arrow, drawing the number six, Sonofwayachi,
who's absolutely dismantled everyone they've faced so far.
Yeah, their captain, Terry York, has to be pretty wide
-eyed after the top seed in this quadrant, Witch Doctor,
was upset in spectacular fashion during last week's action.
Sonofwayachi's path to the finals is looking a whole lot easier at the moment.
Moving over to quad one, we have Escape Velocity drawing
the unenviable task of dealing with our top seed, Tombstone.
Sorry, guys.
Ray Billings has entered this season with confidence to spare,
and all signs point to him making another deep tournament run.
And also tonight, we'll feature two matches from quad two.
You'll see the number 15 seed, Razorback, square off
against Chuck Pitzer, and the number 18, Ghost Raptor.
Yeah, after a nasty loss in the qualifying round to
Sonofwayachi, Chuck wants to use his wild card selection to prove
he still has one of the meanest spots in the tournament.
I wouldn't want to be standing in his way tonight.
Yeah, Chuck is definitely not happy.
But Sam, to kick things off, we'll stay in this quadrant
with a matchup between our number 10 and 23 seeds.
That's right, Chris. This should be a fun one.
We have the boys from Complete Control versus the British legends,
and in my opinion, under seeded by the selection committee, Warhead.
Let's see what these two bots have been doing since they qualified.
In the qualifying round, Warhead debuted a new weapon
and nearly melted the competition's first humanoid bot.
Did anybody order OB Overlord? Well done.
But a dominant win over an overmatched opponent only got Warhead
a 23 seed in a matchup with a very tough Complete Control.
Complete Control saw the dragon head in round one,
but we're going to throw a little curve ball at them.
Now, the legends from Britain are out to prove they shouldn't
be taken lightly with a new version of their old weapon.
And we've got the same spinning head, but the whole
motor assembly has been rebuilt. It is doubled out.
We had to strap it down to test it back home. Literally,
we had to strap it down. And even then, it was frightening.
So stay tuned because Warhead is about to put on another spectacular show.
Complete Control has Complete Control the
bombshell. He's roasting them like a marshmallow.
In their qualifier, Complete Control dominated
bombshell with an unprecedented barrage of fire.
This is the most effective flame that we have seen in BattleBots history.
We're done. It's over.
After going out in the first round last season, especially the way
we lost, it's great to come back and win the first one and move on.
And move on they will, focusing on a simple strategy to take on Warhead.
I definitely want to stay away from the spinning buttons.
The craziest thing about them is they seem to be super unpredictable.
As soon as they start getting wobbly, you know they can go anywhere.
So we've got to really focus on keeping the weapon away from us.
I've seen the Warhead guy's creation. This is basically the same
robot it was a decade plus ago. I'm not intimidated by that.
Okay, let's break down Complete Control versus Warhead.
Well guys, let's remember last season Complete Control came out with the big
box and the net and the ha ha ha and the jokester and all that sort of stuff.
Joke was on everybody else in the qualifying round. They're pretty talented.
Yeah, you know they had a little joke with that plant, but that
lifter grabber combo with that flamethrower, that's no joke.
It really is a superior weapon and if they're able to get Warhead
into a position where they can grab them, it could be lights out.
And tonight they will take on Warhead and it was kind of tough to evaluate
Warhead in the qualifying round because it went against OB Overlord.
So what do we find out about Warhead?
Well, you know, completely different configuration here, so even though
you see the weapons rating there at 75, that could go even higher.
This is a devastating horizontal spinner that causes a lot of damage
and I expect them to be very aggressive here against Complete Control.
Well, I don't know if Warhead's gonna win, but
they sure do win best pants in the competition.
Alright, is everybody in here ready for some robot fighting? Alright.
The teams are making their way to the box. Here's Farouk with the introduction.
Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready? It's robot fighting time!
Warhead led by Ian Lewis and Simon Scott, a knockout win
in the qualifying round, sporting their camo pajama pants.
This is Sam Ponder's new favorite fashion accessory,
by the way. But Kenny, they mean business today.
Yes, they do. They're bringing out the heavy artillery, that horizontal spinner.
They're either gonna tear a hole in Complete Control or tear a hole in themselves.
As long as they don't tear those pants up, that sounds good to me.
There it goes. Complete Control, they fancy themselves a little bit
the bad boys of BattleBots, dressed in their shiny metallic jackets.
But you know what? They were impressive in their opening round win.
They sure were, Chris, but this time around, Complete
Control was bringing back their two nuisance bots.
They're gonna try and slow Warhead down enough to
latch onto him to get that flame throw working.
We'll see how that works out.
In the red square, it toasts robots like a marshmallow.
Get out your slam crackers, it's Complete Control!
Do you have your uplammable suit on or not?
I didn't bring it. I did not bring it, no.
In the blue square, enter stage left. All the way from England,
if it were a Shakespeare play, it would be MacGath. It's Warhead!
Ian Lewis and Simon Scott, they have been here before, but let's give a
shout out to the third member of Warhead, Van, the team's flame specialist.
Both these bots, they spit fire, so we're gonna
see a lot of explosiveness inside the box.
Complete Control, that was the best use of flames
that I've ever seen in BattleBot's history.
It was able to burn up the bot in the qualifying round, and I
think they probably have a more powerful flame than Warhead,
but Warhead's spinner, that is supposedly seriously
upgraded, a lot more powerful than we've seen in the past,
so we still don't know a lot about it and what it
can do, but a lot of questions there for Warhead.
This one should be fun.
Ian and Simon getting that new head up to
speed. Complete Control having a little spin.
Derek Young told us earlier they'll be
looking to clamp onto a soft spot of Warhead.
He'll be trying for the armpits. That stinks.
Let's see.
Complete Control trying to get around to that side
of Warhead. He's looking for that armpit, Kenny.
Oh, what a hit! Kenny, I felt that one in my mouth!
Huge impact right there, and now that primary weapon of Warhead is not spinning.
That'll be trouble if they can't get it back up to speed.
And look at Complete Control. Take a look at the gash on the side of that thing.
Both bots just circling stunned by that initial
hit. Neither showing their directional movement.
They're just trying to regain consciousness. It's like the end of Rocky II, Kenny.
That's right, Chris. Who's going to get that weapon of theirs to work first?
Oh, Warhead's back up.
And Complete Control finally getting that clamp going.
So both bots have regained consciousness here.
Whoa! It just sliced right through Complete Control.
Oh! Oh, no, no. There goes Warhead on its side.
Starting to lose it here, Chris.
Uh-oh. That spinner is spinning out of control.
That's what we were worried about.
Okay, okay. Steady, steady, sorry.
Warhead has steadied himself, but Complete Control
has a motion to Warhead slice right through him.
Oh! Oh! Fire!
Oh, no! It's on fire!
Big curse of flame. Let's see if Warhead can self-right himself.
Get it back over, son. Get it back over, man.
Get it back over. Warhead, he's done it!
Oh! What did Green has witnessed, Kenny?
Are you kidding me?
Ten, nine, eight!
That was the move!
Warhead celebrating, and so they should, Kenny.
I am stunned!
We're done!
And that will do it!
Complete Control is a complete mess at this point.
Well, that was awesome. Talk about going down in flames.
We know why he stopped.
Warhead, the legend has studied!
What a show! We had sparks, we had spinning, we had flames.
Kenny, it was a BattleBots feast. What did you see?
I think the force in that spinner is so great, Chris.
It's acting like an anchor and literally lifting the rest of the bot into the air.
