The first 166 lines.

Huh. Huh, well I'll be.

You know, you got this wrong.

The chaplain's nose is much, much bigger than this.

Ha.

Who, uh, who drew all these?

We all did.

We, we remembered what we could.

Uh, well,

you remembered more than most. (Sniffs and sighs)

You know, once upon a time,

there are these places called playgrounds,

where kids would hang upside down from metal bars.

They'd scrape their knees

and they would argue over who's it.

In schools, books, bells,

and these terrifying creatures called math teachers.

And you're not gonna believe this,

but people actually got up early to go there on purpose.

And there's this thing called church.

It's these buildings where people always sang,

they cried, they hugged strangers, and sometimes,

they'd fall asleep during the sermons.

Whole families would go together to give thanks

to someone they never even met or could even see.

I don't remember, I don't remember much,

'cause I was just a child.

I was younger than you that time,

but that world, it was real.

Just like the painting of that man.

His name was Cooper. He was a chaplain.

They call him Coop. I (inhales and exhales) called him Dad.

He saved me.

Saved a lot of us.

Many of them were your parents.

You see,

those pictures that you do, those,

they're more than stories, they're, they're memories.

Memories for me,

memories of one that you all have as well.

Do you all know who he was? - Yeah.

- Do you wanna know who I am? - Yeah.

Think it's more important that you found out who you are.

All right, so we could lean in, listen close.

Gonna tell you a story.

The story of The Fort.

Rejoice always,

pray continuously,

give thanks in all circumstances.

Give thanks in all circumstances,

for this is God's will

for you in Christ Jesus. (Sobs)

Virus got 'em, huh?

Horrible thing. Horrible thing.

You probably suffered a lot too.

I heard you praying. I heard you crying.

Not much of a talker, are you?

You know what? Maybe you're praying to the wrong God.

Huh. You live around here?

I just find it funny that, uh, you carried both

of these bodies up here by yourself.

We got food if you're hungry.

Look, we're looking for followers.

My father's looking for followers.

He can protect you from the virus,

protect you from things on this Earth.

I have a hunch you and I don't have the same father.

Hallelujah. He talks.

Hallelujah to the one below.

You can end up like him. (Spits)

Now, now. Be kind to our new friend.

I don't think we're gonna be friends.

No, well, my father always loved crows.

So maybe we'll, (exhales) we'll put you out with the crows.

Well, surely your father can save you.

I mean, it's three against one.

Ah!

Look, we can use someone like you.

Powerful, strong, strong-minded.

I don't think so.

I don't think you have a choice.

Come join us. (Groans)

Come (breathes heavily) join us.

My father would be so proud.

Never.

He stretches his hand in wrath,

but God delivers his right hand to save me.

Wounded from the fight,

Cooper returned to his cabin.

After he killed Aamon, or so he thought,

but he was in mourning after burying his wife and his son.

Unfortunately, they succumbed to the virus.

But one thing about Cooper you need to know

is he loved his country.

He was a survivor.

He was chaplain in military, and he was trained to survive.

The food was running out and he had to make a decision.

A decision that would change his destiny.

- Got a second? - Yeah.

Did you see the Asian markets?

- I saw it. (Sighs) - Well, what do you think?

Should we get our clients to pull out?

No. Let's give it the weekend.

Look, it's just a panic.

With America getting in the war,

everyone's a little nervous.

Nervous? The markets are crashing.

Uh, when I was in the military,

we called this the hype before the storm.

Now once we get over there, everything will settle down.

You were in the military?

Yeah, I was Chaplain. Go enjoy your weekend.

What? You're not coming in for the weekend?

Here? Nah.

My wife booked a vacation up in the mountains

up in West Virginia, like this old settlement.

We thought it'd be cool for Cody to, you know,

kind of learn about our American settlers.

Uh, it's actually a pretty cool place.

Got candle shops and horses and old kitchens.

I mean, it's dead in the middle of nowhere,

but I think it'll be fun.

Sounds cool. Have a good weekend, dude.

All right.

Thousands have been subject

to biological attack.

Blackouts from major cities are spreading out

into the rural areas.

Hospitals already with the sick,

running dangerously low on emergency power.

Officials fear hundreds of thousands more will die.

As of yet, no one has taken responsibility for the attack.

Who do you think is attacking us?

I don't know. China, Iran.

Could be Russia.

I'm scared.

Sarah, I know. I am too.

I, I'm trying.

I promise, I'll do everything in my power

to keep you and Maddox safe.

Then why did you kill us?

What?

So Aamon was dead?

Well, not exactly.

The light bringer.

He was the, uh, master of confusion and destruction.

People followed him. They called him Father.

He also had these very powerful prophets

that roam the earth.

And they recruited for him.

And they killed those who were defiant.

Fools.

What shall we do? (Exhales)

He gambled with his soul and lost.

Shall I let Ammon perish then?

That's what I thought.

Our Father who rules the Earth

hallowed be Thy name.

In the light bearer's name,

we ask that Aamon be found worthy.

Awaken, Aamon. Awaken.

Father has found you worthy.

Thank you, great prophet. (Groans)

The line has been crossed.

From this moment forward,

anyone without the mark is to be killed on sight.

Do you understand?
