The first 200 lines.
I need to take a much closer look at these girls
and decide if this is the team I want moving forward.
We got sixth place. I don't get sixth place.
If Audrey had done that dance as a solo, Audrey would've won.
It's so obvious that Audrey is Glo's favorite.
What's the matter?
She's so insanely jealous of Audrey.
I will take care of Corinne, just not right now.
Corinne has said some awful things.
What is wrong with you?
This isn't what I signed up for.
I can't expose my daughter to this toxic environment.
And that means your new champion will be...
Studio Bleu Dance Center.
It wasn't always easy, but we did it!
Whoo!
Last week, the group won.
You told my story, something I've never done before.
Nice job.
That being said... on the pyramid.
Bottom row, Lily.
Lily, your mom made a scene last week.
And her behavior affected the entire team
and now, you're paying the price for it.
So I don't think you were able to perform to the level that you would've liked to.
Lily, do you think I'm toxic?
I really like it here and I love all the teachers
and I love all my friends,
but I think sometimes, um, it's just--
There's some stuff between the moms
that probably shouldn't be involved with us.
Glo, I apologize, I don't think you're toxic.
Corinne, if you ever call me toxic again,
I will have no choice but to expel Lily from the team.
-Do you understand? -Mm-hm.
We're done.
Next on the bottom row.
Ashlan.
Ashlan, you blew it week one and you missed last week.
It was your chance to redeem yourself and you weren't here.
-Yeah. -So it's a new week, new dance,
and I expect you to rise to the occasion, okay?
Okay.
Bellatrix, you did a nice pirouette in the group.
Other than that moment, I didn't see you standing out.
Stars don't let themselves dim.
You are a star.
Next.
Smiley.
You worked harder this week than I've seen you work
and you danced better than I've seen you dance.
So keep working your way up.
On the second row.
Leilah, I was proud of you.
I saw good Leilah, I didn't have to yell at you all week.
I think you were really inspired by the group too.
I think it meant a lot to you.
And I think you really understood the story.
Next.
We have... Audrey.
I think you held yourself and carried yourself with extreme grace.
I'm really proud of you for continuing to lead this group
given the circumstances of the week.
- Good job, Audrey. -Thanks.
And... drum roll.
Top of the pyramid again,
we have Mina!
Good job, Mina.
Mina, you were the lead in The Medium
and a huge part of our win.
It was really an emotional week for all of us,
especially you and your mom.
Min, thank you for sharing your story last week too.
It meant a lot, and Mina, I think that meant a lot to you too,
so you made me really proud.
I'm happy that Mina can express our love in her dance.
-I'm glad we could do that. -Thank you.
There will be only one solo this week.
It's going to be based on
who needs to prove to me that they belong in this group.
Ashlan, you'll be doing a sassy jazz routine.
I need to know that I made the right decision
and that you are here because you belong here,
or if I need to start looking elsewhere.
For this dance, I'm letting you pick out your own character.
I want you to work with your mom
to come up with your own hair, makeup, and costume.
You're gonna have to mother your daughter and not be her friend,
enforcing the rehearsal time, the extra classes,
the extra technique privates.
I'm ready to check those boxes.
I want Ashlan and her mom to work together
because Ashlan doesn't listen to anything her mom says,
even when her mom is right.
I have all the confidence that you can do it.
Okay, I'm trying to protect you.
Lisa just lets Ashlan do what Ashlan wants to do.
They need to work together for the sake of their relationship
and the sake of this team.
We will be doing a group routine
called Telephone.
Do we all know what the telephone game is?
Yes.
I think it's a good lesson in how words that are changed
when they go from one person to the next create havoc.
That can be poisonous, right?
That, my friends, can be toxic.
So the group will be a contemporary ballet.
We are going to have a special guest choreographer this week.
Audrey, you will be doing it on pointe.
Audrey is the lead of the dance,
which is nerve-racking but also really exciting.
One of my favorite things to watch Audrey do is ballet.
But I am nervous about having to do it on pointe
and be the only one who's doing it on pointe.
All right, get your things, get ready to rehearse and let's get busy.
So let's talk a little bit while you're stretching about this group.
I told you it's called Telephone.
You will all be dancing with capsules in your mouth
that when you speak those nasty words,
black goo is going to represent toxic, poisonous words
coming out of your mouth.
Remember I told you we have a guest.
Ta-da!
My daughter is in town
and will be doing the choreography for the group this week.
I'm so proud of her.
She's a professional ballet dancer with Ballet West in Salt Lake City.
I think she has a lot to offer the kids. She's no joke.
You guys know me.
You think she's tough, I'm, you know, I'm tougher.
I'm not gonna have any of you guys making me look bad, right?
And so now the pressure once again has been elevated.
Let's get to work. let's go.
Hit a pose.
Okay, so on that first ding, we're all gonna look to the audience,
we go, ding.
Bellatrix, point your foot all the way-- Your ankle. More.
You have those feet
and you don't let anyone know it because you're never pointing them.
Bellatrix, maybe we should've worked harder in ballet class
for the last three years, right?
Okay, so we just got first place.
Now we have a whole new genre that we've never done.
We don't even do it at regionals ever.
If they get it right, I think it's a-- a winner.
Eight and one, two, three and four,
five and six and seven.
Get your foot that high.
When it can look like that, there's no reason it shouldn't.
-Yeah, what the heck? -And what is this?
Bellatrix really needs to stand out in the group dance.
She's a great technical dancer
because she's been with the studio for years.
All we know is Studio Bleu.
But lately, I feel like Bellatrix has become invisible on this team.
I think she just wants Ms. Glo to be like, "I'm here."
Like, "You chose me to be on this team, let me show you what I can do."
Tino, you may have to make your bed.
You didn't take the pants.
Oh, thanks. Took 'em for a long time.
I am 11 and he's 16,
so it's a little bit weird but not really.
So the last time I won a really big title was, like, two years ago
and it was this really pretty, uh, medal from Starpower
and I also got this tiara.
Miss Glo has definitely always challenged me.
It goes burning love.
Step, step, pirouette.
I never would've thought
that we would be in this position ever in my life.
Like, she's worked her booty off to get to what she wants.
-Can I do a braid? -Yeah.
-Oh. -Actually, no.
Okay, thank God.
I always wonder how it would've been in my life
if I would've actually pursued dancing.
If my parents actually saw how much I loved it and how good I was.
Like, I don't know how-- where I would've been.
I would've been all over, traveling everywhere.
But my parents didn't have money.
Ms. Glo requires for all shoes to match the skin tone,
so I need to put makeup on her new shoes
that-- They were like $40.
And put makeup on them so they match her skin
because if not, they wouldn't look good on stage.
Dance is expensive to the point I feel like I had three jobs at one point
because I need to make sure everything's being taken care of.
I'm just a normal person who works as much as I can with my husband
and lives paycheck to paycheck.
If I have to work overnight, and Daddy too,
we'll do it, that's just who we are.
All right, guys, wings are ready.
I don't have like all this money that's coming to me. I'm not like that.
We just try our best to make sure our kids are taken care of and are happy.
They are gonna wanna see that ballet technique, right?
You can't hide technique behind costumes or pretty faces, right?
Technique is gonna shine through in everything you do.
-Oh. -So ballet's, I think, a risky choice.
Extremely risky.
