English subtitle preview

The first 170 lines.

Everyone had a different theory

about how the apocalypse would happen.

And in the end,

everyone was right.

You know, it's not as scary as you might think.

It's actually kind of a vibe.

Oh, gross. Zombies.

The CDC tried to get everyone to call them viable victims.

We all know what they really are.

To kill them, the government turned to solar-powered robots,

which was great until they turned on us.

In hindsight, we really should have seen that coming.

Luckily, a group of us found

a little slice of pie,

basically untouched by the apocalypse.

And since the robots only come out during the day,

our whole town lives a completely nocturnal life,

which isn't as bad as it sounds, I promise.

You get used to it.

I mean, come on, you can't let something

like the end of the world get in the way

of following your dreams.

New Missoula is full of people living their best life,

making use of what's left.

It's got a little something for everyone.

As long as our town stays a secret,

we stay safe.

So you could say, for the most part, things are good.

It's time for Cuisine de la 'Pocalypse,

starring Chef John.

Who's hungry, baby?

Now that's what I like to see,

a perfectly seasoned hot, hot, hot pan.

I just feel so alive.

We're starting from scratch, baby.

I mean, who would've thought the apocalypse

would have such good Mexican food, eh?

Whoo, baby!

And here's to the best part.

Cheers.

And cut.

That's a cut, everyone.

Oh. Was that okay?

I feel a little bloated today, too much bread.

Uncle John, if I can't tell, they can't tell.

I just don't get it.

It's the end of the world and I still can't get anyone

to come see the show.

Hey, Minns, let's get a closeup of the picture food.

I wanna get some with a little steam this time.

On it.

Rolling on.

Oh, right here works good.

Guys, right here's fine. - Okay, boss.

Ow.

Gray, can you sign this?

Listen here, jerk.

Going to the show tonight?

I don't know. Maybe.

Well, you must not have heard.

Tonight the night of my big surprise.

See you there then.

Gray, I'm talking to you.

Oh, hey, John.

Perfect, actually, I've been meaning to talk with you

about your little kitchen you got here.

What are you talking about?

It's the biggest kitchen in New Missoula.

You know what they say?

It's not the size, it's the location.

Yeah, it's primo.

Well, the thing is, we're short on cable for the turbines,

and technically you never really call dibs,

so we're just asking you to relocate, you know?

Be careful around this wire, it's hot. Thanks.

You can't just go round my kitchen?

No, John, we're trying to give back

what the robots took away.

Don't stand in the way of progress.

Food matters, Gray.

Staying alive matters.

Okay, we're not gonna do that

with your fancy little mini burritos.

I don't care how cute they are.

It's called a taquito.

Come on, girls, let's get you a band aid.

Many of you have lost hope in our future.

Amen.

And trust me, I get it, but we have to remember

what the Book of Jeremiah tells us.

"'For I know the plans I have for you, ' declares the Lord."

'Plans to prosper you and not harm you.

"Plans to give you hope and a future.'"

And I'll tell you right now, if you look for it,

you'll see we have a future.

Okay, folks, if there's any prayer requests,

come see me at the show tonight.

Church dismissed.

Hmm.

I do appreciate you, you know.

Don't mention it.

I know it can't be easy making me

something special every morning.

It's not special. It's same thing every morning.

I guess that's what makes it so special.

Well, thanks, Wallace, but you're ever feeling frisky,

I make a mean shakshuka.

I mean, it is crazy how good it is.

Shak-what-a?

It's Tunisian. It's a tomato-based dish with eggs.

Let me stop you right there.

I've lived a long time, John.

I know what I like,

and it's generally things I can pronounce.

Gotcha.

64.

I noticed Laura wasn't at church again today.

No, she wasn't.

She doing okay?

It's pretty relative quality these days.

Hey, thanks everyone for coming.

The show will get started in just a moment. Thanks.

Thank you.

Well, thank you.

Okay, well, if you like that,

then you are going to love what we have next.

Everyone, please welcome Landeaux!

Welcome, New Missoula. How we doing tonight?

All right, listen, me and my boy, my boy

- Gray. - Gary, me and my man Gary,

we've been cooking up something special

to get back a little bit of what the robots took from us,

so we got something new, we got something exciting,

something revolutionary.

Are you people crazy?

Aw.

No one sees a problem with this?

The internet connects us to the world,

the one that we're kind of at the end of.

Oh, come on, people, give a...

Don't You wanna see the dancing baby?

Dancing baby.

What the hell?

The modem lost power?

Wait, what?

It must be a bad bulb.

It's done.

What's done?

Your cooking show with the girls.

You want them to hate you always, not just at bedtime?

There are enough things out there trying to hurt them.

I am sick of worrying about this one.

If this is about today, that's not my fault.

I don't care whose fault it was.

My only job is to keep them safe until the day that I die,

which in a world where even the damn worms

have turned against us, could really happen any day.

Huh? That was a David joke.

Don't bring him up.

Oh, come on, he was my brother.

He was my whole life.

I'm sorry.

Do you hear him singing?

Every night since he's turned, I hear him.

Laura, Zombies don't sing.

But, is it like a song or a hum?

I don't know.

It's beautiful.

Listen, Laura, I miss my baby brother too.

Beautiful and zombie never belong in the same sentence.
